Drawing Birds: A Guide for Beginners
Whether you’re an aspiring artist or someone who just enjoys doodling, drawing birds can be a fun and rewarding activity. After all, birds are colorful, full of life, and can take on a variety of shapes and sizes. While it can be easy to become overwhelmed by the sheer number of options, here are some easy tips to get you started.
Start Simple
When it comes to drawing birds, less is more. Start with the basics, such as a simple circle or oval. This will be the bird’s body. Then, add two triangles on either side of the bird’s body. These will be the wings. For the final touches, add a curved beak and two small eyes. This will give your bird a basic and recognizable shape.
Enhance the Details
Once you’ve mastered the basics, you can begin to add in the details that make the bird more realistic. To begin, draw a few short lines radiating out from the bird’s body. These will be the feathers. Depending on the type of bird you’re drawing, you may also want to add some color in the form of dots and stripes. Additionally, you can add small circles around the eyes to make them look more realistic.
Create Movement
A great way to bring your bird to life is to add movement. To do this, draw a few curved lines around the wings and tail of the bird. This will give the bird a sense of motion. You can also draw a few curved lines around the body of the bird to create the illusion of feathers ruffling in the wind.
Drawing Different Types of Birds
Once you’ve mastered the basics of drawing birds, you can begin to explore different types of birds. To do this, you’ll need to do a bit of research. Look at pictures of different birds and take note of their unique features. Pay attention to the colors, shapes, and sizes. Take note of how the feathers are arranged and how the beak is shaped. Once you’ve done your research, you’ll be ready to tackle more complex birds.
Practice and Patience
Like any skill, drawing birds requires practice and patience. Don’t be discouraged if your first few attempts don’t look quite right. With practice, you’ll improve and soon be able to draw a wide variety of birds. There’s no better feeling than seeing your sketch come to life as you bring it to life with your own unique style!
