By making a rough outline of the animal you want to draw, you can focus on the details of the drawing while still staying within the boundaries of the animal’s proportions. This article will teach you how to create an animal drawing outline, and how to make sure it looks realistic.

Choosing an Animal to Draw

The first step in creating an animal drawing outline is choosing the animal you want to draw. This is a great opportunity to explore the world of animals and pick one that you are interested in learning more about. You can pick an animal based on what you know about them, or you can research different animals and their features to find one that you think will look great in a drawing. Consider the size of the animal you are drawing and how much detail you would like to include in your drawing.

Making an Animal Drawing Outline

Once you have chosen an animal to draw, you can start to create the outline. Begin by making a basic outline of the animal’s shape. Use simple shapes like circles and ovals to form the body and head of the animal. Make sure to keep the proportions of the animal in mind – for example, a small dog would have a smaller head than a large dog. After you have created the basic outline, you can add details like legs, arms, and fur. You can also add details like eyes, noses, and ears.

Using Reference Images

Using reference images is a great way to make sure your animal drawing outline is accurate. Look for images of the animal you are drawing, and use them as a guide to create your drawing. If you are having trouble drawing a certain part of the animal, you can look to the reference image for guidance. This will help make sure your drawing is as realistic as possible.

Adding Color and Shading

Once you have created the outline of your animal drawing, you can begin to add color and shading. Adding color and shading to your drawing will help bring it to life and will make it look more realistic. If you are using a reference image, you can use it as a guide to determine what colors to use. You can also use light and dark shading to create a more three dimensional look.

Final Touches

When your animal drawing outline is finished, you can add any final touches you feel are necessary. This could include adding fur, feathers, or scales, or adding details like whiskers, claws, or horns. You can also add details like grass or flowers in the background. The possibilities are endless when it comes to making your animal drawing look unique and realistic.
