How to Draw a Brook Trout Step-by-Step

Drawing a brook trout can be a challenging task for many people. It is important to pay attention to the details when drawing them and take your time. This article will guide you through the steps to draw a realistic looking brook trout.

Step 1: Start with the Drawing Surface

When starting to draw a brook trout, it is important to start with a clean, smooth drawing surface. This could be a large piece of paper, a sketchbook, or even a digital drawing tablet. Once you have your surface, you can begin the drawing process.

Step 2: Begin with the Head

When starting to draw a brook trout, it is important to begin with the head. Start off by drawing an oval shape with a flat top. This will become the top of the head. Then draw a curved line underneath and to the right of the oval. This will be the side of the head. To finish the head, draw a curved line on the other side of the oval and then connect the two lines.

Step 3: Draw the Body and Fins

Now that you have the head drawn, it is time to draw the body of the fish. Starting from the head, draw a curved line down to the tail. This line should be slightly wider at the top and narrower at the bottom. Then add a few curved lines to the sides of the main line for the fins. Make sure to draw the fins in different sizes and shapes to make the fish look realistic.

Step 4: Add Details to the Body

Now that you have the body of the fish drawn, it is time to add some details. Start by adding small curved lines to the top and bottom of the body. These will be the scales of the fish. Then add some dots to the fins and a few more to the body. This will give the fish a more realistic look.

Step 5: Draw the Eye and Mouth

Now that the body of the fish is complete, it is time to draw the eye and mouth. Start by drawing a small circle for the eye. Then draw a curved line underneath the eye to create the mouth. Make sure to make the mouth slightly curved and not too wide.

Step 6: Color the Fish

Now that you have the fish drawn, it is time to color it in. Brook trout typically have a mix of green, brown, and yellow colors. Start by coloring the body of the fish in the various colors. Then add some lighter and darker shades to give the fish more depth. Finally, add some white highlights to the fins and body to make the fish look more realistic.

Step 7: Add Shadows and Highlights

The last step in drawing a brook trout is to add shadows and highlights. Start by adding some dark lines to the fins and body to create the shadows. Then add some white or light gray lines to the fins and body to create highlights. This will give the fish an even more realistic look.

Drawing a brook trout can be a challenging but rewarding task. With the right steps and attention to detail, you can create a realistic looking fish. Follow the steps outlined in this article and soon you will be able to draw a beautiful brook trout.
