Tools Needed

Before you can start drawing, you will need to gather the necessary supplies. The most important tool is a pencil, which will be used for sketching out the basic shape of the squid. You will also need a few other supplies, such as an eraser, a ruler, and a sharpie pen for adding details. Additionally, it is helpful to have a piece of paper and some coloring supplies, such as colored pencils or markers.

Step One: Draw the Basic Shape

The first step in drawing a cartoon squid is to sketch out its basic shape. Start by drawing a large oval, which will be the body of the squid. This oval should be slightly flattened in the middle, so that it looks like an egg. Then, draw two smaller circles at the top of the oval, which will be the squid’s eyes. Finally, draw two curved lines extending from the sides of the oval, which will be the squid’s tentacles.

Step Two: Add Details

Once you have the basic shape of the squid sketched out, it is time to start adding some details. Use a ruler to draw a few lines extending from the sides of the oval, which will be the squid’s legs. Then, draw two curved lines extending from the top of the oval, which will be the squid’s arms. Finally, draw a small triangle at the top of the oval, which will be the squid’s beak. You can also add some details to the eyes, such as circles or ovals.

Step Three: Color the Squid

Now that you have the basic shape and details of the squid drawn out, it is time to give it some color. Use colored pencils or markers to color the squid in whatever color you wish. You can make the squid a solid color, or you can add some stripes or other designs to give it a unique look. Additionally, you can use white or black pencils to add highlights and shadows, which will give the squid a more realistic look.

Step Four: Finishing Touches

The final step in drawing a cartoon squid is to add some finishing touches. You can use a sharpie pen to draw some scales on the squid’s body, or you can use white or black pencils to add some highlights and shadows. Additionally, you can use colored pencils or markers to add some details to the eyes, such as circles or ovals. Finally, you can use an eraser to make any necessary corrections to your drawing.
