Drawing Betty Boop Step-by-Step
Betty Boop is an iconic cartoon character who has been around since the 1930s. She was created by Max Fleischer and was the star of many of his classic cartoons. Despite her age, Betty Boop is still a popular subject for drawing and sketching today. If you’d like to try your hand at drawing Betty Boop, here is a step-by-step guide to help you get started.
Step 1 – Begin with the Face
The face is the most important part of any Betty Boop drawing, so start by sketching out the shape of her face. Draw an oval shape for her head and add two small circles for her eyes. Draw an upside down triangle for her nose and three curved lines for her mouth. Don’t worry about getting the details perfect. You can always erase and adjust the lines as you go along.
Step 2 – Add Her Hair
Betty Boop’s hair is a big part of her signature look. Start by sketching two large ovals, one on either side of her head. Add two curved lines at the bottom of each oval to create the shape of her bangs. Draw a curved line coming down from the top of each oval to create the shape of her hairline. Next, draw long curved lines that connect the two ovals together and fill in the rest of her hair. You can also add some short, curved lines to give her hair some texture.
Step 3 – Draw the Outline of Her Body
Now that you’ve finished the face and hair, it’s time to draw the outline of her body. Start by drawing a curved line at the bottom of her face for her jawline. Then, draw two circles for her shoulders and two curved lines for her arms. Connect the circles and lines to create the shape of her torso. Finally, add two curved lines for her legs and two more circles for her feet.
Step 4 – Add the Details
Now that you’ve created the basic outline of Betty Boop’s body, it’s time to add the details. Start by drawing two small circles for her eyes and a line for her nose. Add two curved lines for her eyebrows and some short, curved lines for her eyelashes. Draw a small curved line for her mouth and two small circles for her ears. Finally, draw some curved lines around her torso and arms to give her clothing some definition.
Step 5 – Color and Shade
Now that you’ve finished drawing Betty Boop, it’s time to color her in. Start by shading in her face and hair with a light gray color. Then, add some dark gray shading to her eyes, nose, and mouth. Color in her clothing with a light pink or purple color and add some white highlights to give it some texture. Finally, add some shading to her clothing to give it some depth.
Step 6 – Final Touches
Once you’ve finished coloring and shading your drawing, it’s time to add the final touches. Start by adding a few small details to her face, such as her dimples and the wrinkles around her eyes. You can also add some small details to her clothing, like buttons or pockets. Finally, add a few small details to her hair, such as curls or wisps. And voila! You’ve just finished your very own Betty Boop drawing.
