Exotic Bird Drawings

The Art of Exotic Bird Drawings

Drawing exotic birds is a difficult and rewarding art form. It requires a combination of close observation and imagination to create a realistic-looking image. To get started, you’ll need to find a reference image and have some basic drawing supplies like paper, pencils, and erasers. Once you have these, you can begin your exploration of drawing exotic birds.

The first step in drawing a bird is to break it down into the basic shapes. Look for the circles, ovals, and triangles that make up the bird’s body and wings. Once you have identified these shapes, start to draw them on paper. You can use light, sketchy lines to start, and then gradually add more details. As you draw, pay attention to the bird’s features such as its eyes, beak, feathers, and claws. Try to draw the shapes as accurately as possible, and then refine them with shading and hatching.

With a little practice, you can begin to add more color and texture to your drawings. Start by using a range of pencils, markers and paints to render the plumage and other features of the bird. When you are finished, you can blend the colors together for a more realistic look. You can also add some detail to the background, such as trees, rocks, and other natural elements. This can help to create a more interesting composition.

Drawing Exotic Birds from Memory

Drawing from memory is a great way to practice your bird drawing skills. Start by closing your eyes and trying to visualize the bird in your mind. Once you have a clear image of the bird in your mind, start to draw it on paper. Pay attention to the bird’s features, and use light pencil lines to start. As you draw, try to capture the bird’s posture and movements. Once you have finished your sketch, add color and texture to give it more life.

Drawing from memory takes practice, but it can be an enjoyable and rewarding activity. You can also use different techniques such as gesture drawing and blind contour drawing to help strengthen your drawing skills. These techniques involve drawing without looking at the paper, which helps to make the drawing process more spontaneous and creative.
