How to Draw a Scroll
Drawing a scroll can be a little tricky since there are a lot of details and curves that you need to get just right. But with some practice and patience, you can master the art of drawing a scroll. Here are some tips and tricks to help you get started.
Step 1: Sketch Out the Basic Shape
The first step in drawing a scroll is to sketch out the basic shape. To do this, draw a long and narrow rectangle with one end wider than the other. This will be the basic shape of the scroll. Make sure that the narrower part of the scroll at the end is curved, giving the scroll its unique look.
Step 2: Add Details to the Scroll
Once you have finished sketching out the basic shape of the scroll, it’s time to start adding some details. Start by sketching in some lines that go from the end of the scroll to the wider part. These should be curved and slightly wavy lines, as if the scroll is being rolled up.
Next, draw some small circles at the end of the scroll. These will be the decorative elements of the scroll and will give it that traditional look. To make the circles look more realistic, try to make them slightly irregular in shape.
Step 3: Fill in the Details
The next step is to fill in the details of the scroll. Start by drawing some lines inside the circles you drew in the previous step. These should be curved and slightly wiggly, as if the circles are being unraveled.
Next, draw some small lines coming out of the edges of the scroll. These are the edges of the paper that are slightly torn. Draw some curved lines at the top of the scroll as well. These will be the decorative elements of the scroll that make it look more realistic.
Finally, draw some small lines at the bottom of the scroll. These will be the edges of the paper that are slightly folded.
Step 4: Coloring and Shading
Now that you have finished drawing the basic shape and details of the scroll, it’s time to start coloring and shading. Start by coloring the basic shape of the scroll in a light brown color. Then, use a darker brown color to shade in the details of the scroll.
To make the scroll look even more realistic, use a white colored pencil to add some highlights to the edges of the paper. You can also use a light gray color to add some shadows to the scroll. This will help the scroll look more realistic.
Step 5: Finishing Touches
The last step is to add some finishing touches. Start by using a thin black pen to draw some small lines inside the circles and along the edges of the paper. This will make the scroll look more realistic.
Finally, use a black colored pencil to draw some small shadows underneath the scroll. This will help the scroll look more three-dimensional. Once you are done, you should have a realistic looking scroll that you can be proud of.
Drawing a scroll can be a bit tricky, but with some practice and patience, you can master it. Follow these steps and you will be on your way to creating a beautiful and realistic looking scroll.
