How to Draw a Chipmunk – Step by Step Guide
The chipmunk is a small, adorable creature that can be found in wooded areas across North America. These little critters have a unique look that can be recreated in drawings. Drawing a chipmunk can be a fun and rewarding experience for any artist, no matter their level of experience. Here is a step-by-step guide to drawing a chipmunk.
Step 1: Start with the Head
Begin by sketching the basic outline of the head. This should be a simple oval shape that is slightly larger at the bottom than the top. Be sure to leave enough room for the ears, eyes, and nose. If you want to make the head look more realistic, add a few lines to the side of the oval to show the fur around the face.
Step 2: Add the Ears
Next, draw the ears. Chipmunks have small, triangular ears that stand up on the sides of their heads. Start by drawing a small triangle at the top of the head and then draw a line on either side to connect it to the head. For more realism, add a few lines inside the triangle to show the details.
Step 3: Draw the Eyes
After the ears have been drawn, it’s time to draw the eyes. Chipmunks have large, round eyes that are located towards the top of the head. Start by drawing two small circles and then add a few lines around them to show the details. For a more realistic look, you can add a few highlights to the eyes.
Step 4: Add the Nose and Mouth
The next step is to draw the nose and mouth. The nose should be a small triangle located just below the eyes. The mouth should be a curved line that is located just below the nose. Be sure to draw the mouth slightly larger than the nose. For a more realistic look, you can add a few whiskers around the nose and mouth.
Step 5: Draw the Body
Once the head has been completed, it’s time to draw the body. Chipmunks have an elongated body that is slightly wider at the bottom. Start by drawing a long, curved line that is slightly wider at the bottom. For a more realistic look, you can add a few lines to show the fur on the body.
Step 6: Add the Legs and Tail
The last step is to draw the legs and tail. Chipmunks have four short legs that are located on the sides of the body. Start by drawing four small lines that are slightly curved. For the tail, draw a long curved line that is slightly thicker at the end. For a more realistic look, you can add a few lines to show the fur on the legs and tail.
Step 7: Color and Finish the Drawing
Once all of the lines have been drawn, it’s time to color and finish the drawing. Chipmunks have a greyish-brown fur, so use a dark brown color to fill in the body and head. You can also use a lighter brown color to add some highlights to the fur. For the eyes, use a light grey or white color to create the highlights. Lastly, use a dark brown color to draw the whiskers and a black color to draw the nose and mouth.
Congratulations! You have now completed your chipmunk drawing. With a little bit of practice, you will soon be able to draw these little critters with ease. So grab a pencil and a piece of paper and get ready to draw!
