How to Draw a Corgi
Corgis, the adorable Welsh herding dogs with short legs, big ears, and big hearts, are beloved by millions of people around the world. Drawing a Corgi can be a fun and rewarding experience. With some basic supplies, a bit of patience, and a few helpful tips, you can bring your Corgi to life on paper.
Gather Your Supplies
To get started, you’ll need to gather some basic supplies. First, you’ll need paper. Any type of paper will work, but for best results, you should use a thicker paper such as drawing paper, sketch paper, or cardstock. You’ll also need a pencil and eraser. If you want to add color to your drawing, you’ll need colored pencils or markers. Finally, you’ll need a reference photo of a Corgi. You can find reference photos online, or you can use a photo of your own Corgi.
Start by Drawing the Head
When you’re ready to start drawing your Corgi, begin with the head. Corgi heads are relatively simple shapes, so they’re a great starting point. Start by lightly sketching a circle or an oval shape to form the head. Then, draw two smaller circles or ovals inside the head shape to form the eyes. The eyes should be slightly angled, with the farthest eye slightly higher than the closest eye. Next, draw a curved line to form the nose, and add a curved line beneath each eye to form the cheeks. Finally, draw a curved line across the top of the head to form the ears.
Outline the Body
When you’re finished with the head, you can move on to the body. Start by sketching a long, curved line to form the back. Then, draw a curved line at the bottom of the back to form the tail. Next, draw two curved lines at the bottom of the back to form the hind legs. Finally, draw two short, curved lines at the front of the back to form the front legs. To give your Corgi a more realistic look, add some detail lines to the legs.
Add the Details
Now that you’ve outlined your Corgi, it’s time to add some details. Begin by adding the facial features. Add two small circles inside the eyes to form the pupils, and draw a curved line inside the nose to form the nostrils. Then, draw a curved line above each eye to form the eyebrows, and draw a curved line beneath the nose to form the muzzle. You can also add some fur texture to the face and body by lightly sketching some curved lines.
Final Touches
When you’re finished with the details, it’s time to add the final touches. If you’re using colored pencils or markers, you can add some color to your Corgi. Use lighter colors to fill in the eyes and darker colors to fill in the fur. You can also add some highlights to the fur by lightly sketching with a white colored pencil. Finally, erase any unwanted pencil lines and you’ll have a beautiful drawing of a Corgi!
Drawing a Corgi can be a fun and rewarding experience. With some basic supplies, a bit of patience, and a few helpful tips, you can bring your Corgi to life on paper. Whether you’re a beginner artist or a master draftsman, you’ll be sure to have a lot of fun drawing your Corgi. So grab your paper and pencils, and get ready to draw a Corgi!
