Step 1: Drawing the Head and Ears

Labradors are known for their endearing faces, warm personalities and intelligence, which makes them one of the most popular dog breeds in the world. A labrador’s facial features are unique and easy to recognize. To draw a labrador, start by sketching a basic circle for the head and two slightly curved lines for the ears. Next, add two small circles for the eyes and a small oval for the nose. After that, draw two curved lines for the mouth and two small triangles for the whiskers. Finally, add some detailing to the ears and sketch the outline of the neck.

Step 2: Drawing the Body and Legs

Now that the head is finished, it’s time to move onto the body and legs. Start by sketching two long ovals for the torso and two smaller ovals for the front legs. Then, draw two curved lines for the hind legs and two more curved lines for the tail. To finish the body, add some detailing to the legs and draw the outline of the hindquarters. To give your labrador a more realistic look, add some shading and texture to the body and legs.

Step 3: Drawing the Fur

Labradors are known for their thick, luxurious coats. To draw the fur, start by sketching some short, curved lines along the head, neck, body and legs. Then, add some longer, curved lines to the ears and tail. To give the fur a more realistic look, add some shading to the lines and draw some small circles for the fur. Finally, add some highlights to the fur to give it a glossy, shiny look.

Step 4: Finishing Touches

Once the fur is finished, it’s time to add some finishing touches to your labrador drawing. Start by sketching the eyes, nose and mouth to give the labrador expression. Then, add some detailing to the ears, tail and legs. Finally, add a collar and a leash to complete the drawing.

Tips

To make your labrador look more realistic, experiment with different shading and texture techniques. You can also add some accessories such as a bandana or a ball to give the drawing more character. Have fun and be creative!
