How to Draw a Yorkshire Terrier

The Yorkshire terrier is a small, toy-sized breed of dog that originated in the 19th century in the county of Yorkshire in England. The Yorkshire terrier is a friendly, active, and devoted breed that is loyal to its owners and makes an excellent companion dog. Yorkies are particularly well-known for their long, silky coats and their signature long, flowing locks. Drawing a Yorkshire terrier can be a fun and rewarding experience, and it is a great way to get started learning how to draw animals.

Gather Your Supplies

Before you can get started with your drawing project, you’ll need to gather all of the supplies that you’ll need. Depending on the type of medium you choose to draw with, your list of supplies may vary. For this tutorial, we’ll be using a pencil and paper. If you prefer to use a different medium, you may want to adjust the instructions accordingly.

To get started, you’ll need the following supplies:

  • Pencil
  • Paper
  • Eraser

Draw the Basics of the Yorkshire Terrier

Once you have all of your supplies gathered, it’s time to start drawing! Start with the basics of the Yorkshire terrier by sketching out the head, body, and legs. When drawing the head, draw a small circle to represent the muzzle, and then a larger circle above it to represent the head. Use a few curved lines to represent the ears, and then draw a curved line to represent the top of the muzzle. For the body, draw a few straight lines to represent the body and the legs.

Next, draw the details of the Yorkshire terrier. Start by adding the eyes, nose, and mouth. For the eyes, draw two small circles on either side of the muzzle, and then draw two small curved lines for the eyebrows. For the nose, draw a small oval shape, and for the mouth, draw a curved line beneath the muzzle. You can also add a few curved lines for the fur on the face.

Add Color and Details to Your Drawing

Once you have the basic shape of the Yorkshire terrier drawn out, it’s time to add some color and details to your drawing. If you are using a pencil, you can use shading to give your drawing a more realistic look. For the fur, draw small, curved lines to represent the fur. You can also add some color to your drawing by using colored pencils or markers. For the eyes, you can draw a small circle in the center of each eye, and then use a darker color to fill in the rest of the circle.

When you are done adding color and details, it’s time to finish up your drawing. Use an eraser to erase any unwanted lines, and then use a fine-tip pen or marker to outline the drawing. Once you are satisfied with your drawing, you can sign it and display it proudly!
