You don’t need any special artistic talent or previous experience with drawing to create an accurate sketch of him. Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide to drawing Flounder from Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
Step 1: Outline the Basic Shape of Flounder
Begin by sketching a basic outline of Flounder’s body. Start by drawing a curved line for the top of the body and then draw a second curved line for the bottom. Next, draw a curved line at the top of Flounder’s body to indicate the dorsal fin. Then draw two curved lines at the bottom of the body to indicate the pectoral fins. Draw two small circles at the top of the body to represent the eyes. The eyes should be placed close together. Lastly, draw an oval shape at the top of the body to indicate the tail fin.
Step 2: Add Details to Flounder’s Body
Now that you have the basic shape of Flounder’s body, you can add details. Start by adding some curved lines around the outside of the body to indicate the scales. Make sure to draw the lines in a slightly curved fashion so that the scales look realistic. Then draw a curved line down the center of the body to indicate the spine.
Draw two curved lines at the front of the body to indicate the mouth. Make sure to draw the lines close together so that the mouth looks realistic. Draw two curved lines at the top of the body to indicate the gills. Lastly, draw a curved line at the bottom of the body to indicate the tail fin.
Step 3: Color in Flounder
Now that you have Flounder’s body drawn, you can add color. Start by coloring in the body with a bright orange crayon or colored pencil. Make sure to color in the scales as well. Then color in the tail fin with a light orange or yellow color. Color in the eyes with a black crayon or pencil. Lastly, color in the gills and the mouth with a light pink color.
