Steps to Draw Fry from Futurama
Fry, the protagonist of the beloved animated show Futurama, is an interesting character to draw. He is a 25-year-old delivery boy from the 20th century who was cryogenically frozen and woke up in the 31st century. He is best friends with Bender, the alcoholic robot, and is often the victim of the Professor’s crazy experiments. Fry is an easy character to draw, but there are a few key elements that should be included. Here are the steps to draw Fry from Futurama.
Step 1: Start with the Hair
Fry has a wild and crazy hairstyle, so this is the best place to start when drawing him. Use a pencil to sketch a line across the top of the head for the hairline. From there, draw a series of jagged lines that curl up and out to create the spikes of his hair. Make sure to draw the spikes in the direction of the line you first drew for the hairline. Once you are satisfied with the shape of the hair, use an eraser to clean up any unnecessary lines.
Step 2: Draw the Face
Fry has an oval-shaped face, so draw a slightly curved line to form the jaw. Then draw two lines going up to form the sides of the face. Make sure to draw the lines in a curved shape so that the top of the face is slightly wider than the bottom. For Fry’s eyes, draw two small circles with a curved line above them to form the eyebrows. Draw a small curved line beneath the eyes to form the nose. Then draw a line beneath the nose for the mouth.
Step 3: Outline the Body
Fry is a fairly thin character, so draw a line going down from the chin to create the neck. Then draw two curved lines for the shoulders, and draw two more lines for the arms. Draw a line for the waist and then two more lines for the legs. Lastly, draw two more curved lines for the feet. Make sure to draw the lines in an angular shape to create the illusion of movement.
Step 4: Add Details
Now that you have the basic outline of Fry’s body, it’s time to add some details. For the clothes, draw a jagged line along the neck to create the collar of his shirt. Then draw two curved lines beneath the neck for the sleeves. Draw a curved line along the waist to create the belt buckle and then draw two rectangles for the pockets. For the shoes, draw two curved lines beneath the feet and then draw two rectangles for the soles.
Step 5: Color the Drawing
Fry’s hair is a bright yellow, so use a yellow colored pencil or marker to fill in the spikes. For the face, use a light brown colored pencil or marker to fill in the eyes, nose, and mouth. For the clothes, use a dark blue colored pencil or marker to fill in the collar, sleeves, and pockets. Lastly, use a black colored pencil or marker to fill in the shoes. And there you have it, your very own Fry from Futurama!
