Steps on How to Draw a Raccoon

Drawing a raccoon is a great way to bring the outdoors indoors and to practice your drawing skills. Drawing a raccoon is a fun and creative activity that won’t take too much time or effort, and the results can be quite impressive. With some practice and a few simple steps, you can draw a realistic-looking raccoon in no time at all.

Step 1: Sketch the Outline

Start by sketching a rough outline of the raccoon’s body. The shape of the raccoon should be somewhat pear-shaped, with a round head, a pointed snout, and a thick, fluffy tail. The raccoon’s forelegs and hind legs should be roughly the same length, and its belly should be slightly rounded. To make your sketch look more realistic, you can add some details, such as fur or whiskers.

Step 2: Add the Fur

Once you have the basic outline of the raccoon, it’s time to add some fur. Start by drawing a few curved lines that follow the shape of the raccoon’s body. These lines should be spaced relatively close together to give the raccoon a fuller, more realistic look. To add even more detail, use curved lines to draw individual strands of fur, making sure to keep the lines relatively close together.

Step 3: Add the Face

Now that you have the body of the raccoon drawn, it’s time to add the face. Start by drawing the raccoon’s nose, which should be a small oval shape. Then, draw two round eyes and two curved triangles for the ears. To give the face more character, you can add details such as fur, whiskers, and eyebrows. Finally, draw the raccoon’s mouth, which should be slightly curved and filled with small, pointed teeth.

Step 4: Add the Details

Once you have the basic outline and the face of the raccoon drawn, it’s time to add the details. Start by drawing the raccoon’s feet, which should be fairly large and rounded. Then, draw the tail, which should be thick and fluffy. To give the tail more texture and realism, draw a few curved lines that follow the shape of the tail. Finally, you can add the claws, which should be small and sharp.

Step 5: Color the Raccoon

Now that you have the basic outline and details of the raccoon drawn, it’s time to add some color. Raccoons are typically grayish-brown in color, with a white underbelly and a black mask around their eyes. To make your raccoon look more realistic, you can add some shading and highlights to give it more depth and texture.

Step 6: Add the Background

Once you have your raccoon colored, you can add a background if you like. For a more realistic look, you can draw a forest scene with trees, grass, and other natural elements. You can also add some clouds, stars, or other elements to give your drawing a more whimsical feel.

Step 7: Add the Finishing Touches

Once you have the basic outline, details, and background of the raccoon drawn, it’s time to add some finishing touches. You can add more fur, details, and shading to give the raccoon more depth and realism. You can also add some grass, trees, or other elements to your background to give it more depth. Finally, you can add some highlights to the fur to make it look more realistic.

Once you’ve followed these steps, your raccoon will be ready to show off to your friends and family. With some practice and patience, you can create a realistic-looking raccoon drawing that will be the envy of all your friends. So, grab your pencil and paper and get ready to draw a raccoon that looks just like the real thing.
