How to Draw a Troll
Trolls are popular characters in folklore, fantasy, and animated films. Whether they’re the cute and cuddly type or the fierce, ugly type, trolls are fun and unique characters to draw. Learning how to draw trolls can be a great way to practice your drawing skills and to create a character that’s all your own. With a few simple steps, you’ll be on your way to drawing your own troll in no time.
Step 1: Draw the Head
Start out by drawing an oval to form the troll’s head. This can be slightly oblong or more circular. Make sure to draw the outline of the head as evenly as possible. Once you’ve drawn the head shape, add in two small circles for the eyes. Draw slightly curved lines over the eyes for the eyebrows and add a larger curved line for the mouth. Make sure to add a small triangle or line inside the mouth to create a tongue.
Step 2: Draw the Ears, Hair, and Nose
Draw two large, curved triangles to form the ears. Make sure to curve the triangles slightly inwards to make them look more natural. Draw two smaller curved triangles on top of the head to form the hair. Add a small curved line for the nose and a few small curved lines around the mouth for the whiskers.
Step 3: Draw the Arms and Legs
Draw two large circles for the shoulders and two smaller circles for the elbows. Connect them with curved lines to form the arms. Draw two ovals for the hands and add fingers and thumbs. For the legs, draw two large ovals for the thighs and two smaller ovals for the knees. Connect them with curved lines to form the legs. Draw two ovals for the feet and add toes.
Step 4: Draw the Clothes
Draw a long, curved line for the collar of the shirt. Add two curved lines on each side of the collar to form the sleeves. Draw a curved line at the bottom of the shirt for the hem. Draw a pair of pants using two curved lines for the waistband and two curved lines for the bottom of the pants. Draw a curved line at the bottom of the pants for the cuff.
Step 5: Draw the Details
Add in any extra details you’d like to give your troll character. This could include accessories like hats or jewelry, or it could be things like tattoos or piercings. Be creative and have fun with it! Once you’re done, your troll is ready to come to life!
Conclusion
Drawing trolls can be a lot of fun and with a few simple steps, you can easily create your own unique characters. Whether you’re drawing cute and cuddly trolls or fierce and ugly ones, the possibilities are endless. So grab your pencil and paper and get to drawing!
