How to Draw an Octopus Step by Step

Octopuses are some of the most interesting and complex creatures in the sea. With their incredible intelligence and unique physical characteristics, they are popular among both children and adults alike. If you’ve ever wanted to draw an octopus, you’re in luck! Drawing an octopus is actually easier than it seems. All you need is a piece of paper, a pencil, and some basic drawing skills. This step-by-step guide will show you everything you need to know to draw a detailed and realistic octopus. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Draw an Oval

The first step to drawing an octopus is to draw an oval. This will be the head of your octopus. Make sure your oval is slightly flat on one side, and make sure it’s big enough to fit all the other shapes you’ll be drawing. When you’re done, draw two curved lines coming out of the top of the head. These will be the tentacles of your octopus.

Step 2: Draw the Body

Next, draw the body of your octopus. Start by drawing a curved line that comes down from the head and curves back up. This will be the back of your octopus. Then, draw two curved lines coming down from the back. These will be the sides of the body. Finally, draw a curved line coming down from the body. This will be the underside. Make sure all the lines are connected, and that the shape looks like an 8.

Step 3: Draw the Eyes and Beak

Now it’s time to draw the eyes and beak of your octopus. Start by drawing two circles on the head. These will be the eyes. Then, draw a small triangle between the eyes. This will be the beak. Make sure the beak is pointing down.

Step 4: Draw the Tentacles

The next step is to draw the tentacles. Start by drawing two curved lines coming out of the head. These will be the main tentacles. Then, draw two curved lines coming out of the sides of the body. These will be the side tentacles. Finally, draw two curved lines coming out of the underside. These will be the bottom tentacles. Make sure all the lines are connected and that the tentacles look realistic.

Step 5: Draw the Details

Now it’s time to add the details to your octopus. Start by drawing curved lines on the head, body, and tentacles. These will be the wrinkles and folds of the octopus. Then, draw small circles on the head and body. These will be the suckers. Finally, draw a few small lines coming out of the suckers. These will be the tentacles of the suckers.

Step 6: Color Your Octopus

The last step is to color your octopus. Octopuses come in a variety of colors, so you can choose whatever color you like. You can also add shading and highlights to make your octopus look more realistic. When you’re done, you’ll have a beautiful and realistic octopus drawing!
