How to Draw Spongebob Squarepants
SpongeBob SquarePants is a beloved television character and a favorite of both children and adults alike. He’s been a part of our lives for over 20 years and is still going strong. Drawing SpongeBob isn’t as difficult as it may seem. With a little bit of practice and some helpful drawing tips, you’ll be drawing your own SpongeBob creations in no time.
Start with a Circle
The first step to drawing SpongeBob is to draw a circle. This is the basic outline of the character and will be the starting point for the rest of the drawing. Make sure the circle is the right size for the drawing you have in mind. SpongeBob is a fairly small character, so you don’t need to make the circle too large. The circle should be slightly oval shaped, as this is a more accurate representation of SpongeBob’s body shape.
Draw the Body
Once you have the circle drawn, you can start to draw SpongeBob’s body. Start with a line that follows the curve of the circle. This line will be the bottom of SpongeBob’s body and should be slightly curved. Then draw two more lines, one on the top of the circle and one on the side. These lines should connect with the bottom line and form the shape of SpongeBob’s body.
Draw the Arms and Legs
Once you have the body shape drawn, you can draw the arms and legs. Start with the arms, which should be drawn as two lines that start at the top of the body and curve downwards. The arms should be slightly curved and should end just above the bottom of the body. For the legs, start with two lines that start at the bottom of the body and curve outward. The legs should be slightly curved and should end just below the bottom of the body.
Draw the Face
The next step is to draw SpongeBob’s face. Start by drawing a circle within the circle you drew for the body. This circle should be slightly smaller than the body circle and should be slightly oval shaped. Then draw two curved lines for the eyes, two lines for the eyebrows, and a curved line for the mouth. Make sure to draw the eyes and mouth in the right places so that the face looks like SpongeBob’s face.
Draw the Details
Once you have the basic face drawn, you can start to draw the details. Start with the eyes, which should be drawn as two circles within the eyes you already drew. Then draw two small lines for the eyelashes and two small circles for the nostrils. For the mouth, draw two curved lines that meet in the middle. Then draw a line along the bottom of the mouth and two small circles for the dimples.
Color the Drawing
The last step is to color the drawing. SpongeBob is usually yellow and brown, so these are the colors you should use. Start by coloring the body and head yellow and the arms and legs brown. Then color the eyes and mouth black and the cheeks pink. To finish, add some white highlights to the eyes and mouth and any other details you may want to add.
Once you’ve finished coloring the drawing, you’re done. SpongeBob may look complicated, but with a little practice and some helpful drawing tips, you’ll be able to draw him in no time. Have fun and let your imagination run wild as you create your own SpongeBob creations!
