Falconry, or the practice of hunting with birds of prey, is a time-honored tradition dating back thousands of years. But even if you’re not a falconer, you can still appreciate the majestic beauty of the falcon. Drawing this beautiful bird requires some patience and skill, but it’s a rewarding project for fledgling and experienced artists alike.
Step 1: Draw the Basic Outline of the Falcon
Start by drawing the basic outline of the falcon. Begin at the head, drawing a curved line that curves upward. Curve the line downward, and then draw a curved line that connects the head to the tail. At the tail, draw two lines that extend from the body and come to a point. This will be the falcon’s wings. Finally, draw a line that connects the head to the wings. This will be the falcon’s neck.
Once the basic outline is complete, add details to the falcon’s wings and tail. Draw two curved lines on the wings to create feathers. On the tail, draw a few more curved lines to complete the feathers. Draw two curved lines on either side of the head to create the falcon’s eyes. Add two small circles in the center of the eyes to make them look realistic.
Step 2: Add the Finer Details
Now that the basic outline is complete, it’s time to add the finer details. Begin by drawing a curved line that extends from the falcon’s beak. This will be the falcon’s tongue. Draw two curved lines on either side of the head to create the falcon’s ears. Draw two curved lines on the wings to create the feathers. Draw two curved lines on the tail to complete the feathers. Draw two curved lines on either side of the body to create the falcon’s legs. Finally, draw two curved lines on the feet to complete the feet.
Once the finer details are complete, it’s time to add the final touches. Draw two curved lines on the wings to create the primary feathers. Draw two curved lines on the tail to complete the feathers. Draw two curved lines on either side of the body to create the falcon’s wings. Finally, draw two curved lines on the feet to complete the feet.
Step 3: Color and Shade the Falcon
Now that the drawing is complete, it’s time to add color and shading. Use a light brown or tan color to fill in the body of the falcon. Use darker shades of brown and black to shade the wings, tail and feet. Add white to the eyes and beak to make them stand out. Finally, use a light gray or white to add highlights to the feathers.
Congratulations! You have now successfully drawn a falcon. Try experimenting with different colors and shading techniques to create a unique and realistic looking falcon. With practice, you will be able to draw a realistic looking falcon in no time. Good luck!
